Thanks for the contributions. Actually I wouldn't need to tick Alexandrine Parakeet - already have this on my world list! I guess this is a possiblility but think I would have noticed the large bill even in the all-too-brief view and I'm not sure it was as large as an Alexandrine - maybe Rose-ringed (Psittacula krameri)? These are commonly kept in the UK and a significant feral population also exists. Would have liked to get a better look! We'll never know for sure unless it has taken up residence in the vicinity and I see it again. Unfortunately I won't get a chance to look again until the weekend - damn job!!
