The shoveller was still present at the 115East long ponds on Sunday at 1:00pm.
It has started to moult into basic at the correct time for a nth. hemisphere shoveller and any observations of this individual over the next month or two should note its moult progression. Both Danny Rogers and myself would be interested to here from anyone who observes this bird, so we can keep track of its progress.
Currently it it has a peppering of dark feathers in the central hahf of its white breast, and has replaced four or five of the largest lateral reddish body feathers that cover the wings when swimming. it may also have started to replace some scapulars but it was difficult to discern how many if any.
It would have been nice to know about the wagtail beforehand.
