Debbie Andrew at work here has just arrived late saying that she has just seen a Black-necked Stork near her house on the Georges River. It was first seen circling in the sky and then landed on the mudflats opposite her place on the river. She paddled across in a canoe and took some photos. The exact location is on the small mangrove island in Hurstville Bay east of Griffins Point Illawong. Deb's suggestions for the best place to view are from the baths in Oatley Park or from the walking bridge at Como (next the railway line). Views may also be possible from Marine Drive (Jew Fish Point) Oatley. If I get a chance I may duck down at lunch time and have a look from Oatley Park and I will let you know if I have any luck (may only be a low tide thing though).
Cheers,
Peter
