Hi All, There were around 20 Cattle Egrets at the T section lagoons yesterday, feeding near cattle that were grazing in a couple of the lagoons. I saw one of the Cattle Egrets take off from the pack with a mouse in its beak. I didn't see what it did with it, but i assume it took it off to enjoy the meal in privacy. Has anyone else seen any type of egrets feeding on mice before? Seems unusual... Cheers, Peter P.s. Some other sightings around the Geelong Area: ** Large flocks of Yellow Tailed Black Cockatoo's have been seen flying along the Portarlington Hwy over the past two weeks, with flock sizes ranging from approx 200 to smaller groups of 50 and 20. ** 100 + Freckled Ducks on Lake Lorne ** 75 Royal Spoonbills at Swan Bay Jetty. ** 4 Wedge Tailed Eagles circling together over Aeroplane Track in the Brisbane Ranges. ** Small group of Zebra Finches on Mt Wallace rd, Brisbane ranges. ** Flame robin at Reedy Lake. |
