Dear birders,

Received this from family in Botswana. Any views on this subject with respect to Australian Cuckoo hosts??!

Regards,
Peter Madvig

But then this afternoon I had a young Striped Cuckoo following a group of
Babblers around the garden annoying us all with his loud plaintive begging
for food call - also supposedly late for them to have bred. As an aside here
I have noted that a lot of these kind of birds, Babblers, Bulbul's &
BouBou's breed twice a year in my garden, the 1st breeding is in early
September, normally well before the Cuckoos arrive in any force and then
again in Feb/March when the cuckoo's are around - is this a clever survival
type strategy????
