To all on Birding-aus,

On Saturday 23rd April I observed a mixed flock of Masked and Whire-browed Woodswallows at Koah about 14 km SW of Kuranda NQ. They numbered in excess of 200 birds and many were feeding on the blossom of flowering bloodwoods and other planed for insects.
Koah is at elevation about 20 kms due west of Cairns.
It is rare to see these birds here and the Masked were recorded sparingly in both Atlasses and the White-broweds only in the last Atlas. It was my first encounter of either species having been guiding regionally for ten years.
These records may be a prelude to the movement of what are normally inland bird species due to the drought conditions to be found extensively in inland Australia.

Regards,
