Hello all,
Just a short email to let you know that I've put up Part 3 (the final
part) of my collection of New Caledonia photos on my website
(www.wildlifing.com). These cover from the north-east coast over to the
west coast, up to the northern-most tip (Pointe Naharian) and back down
to Noumea down the west coast.
Part 3 includes Site de Nehoue and northern New Caledonia. Fauna
photographed includes Red-bellied Fruit-dove, Cloven-feathered Dove, New
Caledonian Friarbird, New Caledonian Myzomela, Osprey and more.
The highlights for me from part 3 are the two doves, Red-bellied
Fruit-dove and Cloven-feathered Dove. The Fruit-dove was an unexpected
surprise at the lovely lowland rainforest of Site de Nehoue. The
Cloven-feathered Dove is my favourite pigeon, a bit of an odd bod.
However, most of the north and west is quite dry and quite similar
looking to the drier parts of coastal Queensland. Its not surprising
that there were once Painted Buttonquail and White-throated Nightjar
here (although both are now possibly extinct).
To go to part 2 without looking at the previous photos you can go
