For those in the market for Swarovski 10x42 (and
8.5x42) EL's, Swarovski have recently released an upgraded version that has
faster focusing (press release on web is 17/03/2005 although I think the model
may have been in Australia longer). When I researched high-end binos one of the
critisms of the swaros was the slow focusing from infinity to close focus - now
you have not only a very close focus but the focusing barrel turns from close to
infinity is only 1.5 turns when compared to 2.5 turns previously - this would be
particularly useful when birding in the bush when you need to change focus
distant frequently and often quickly. Note that serial numbers beyond L741995971 have this feature.
