I haven't head a Koel for a week, or a Channel-bill for 2 weeks - but
my dawn long runs have been much reduced. But I did come across this
feather on my local oval yesterday:

My guess is Koel. Anyone game to confirm/contradict?

I was thinking about how observations of Koels might correlate with
density. While my observations much declined in February through
spring-summer the vast majority I either heard calling or saw flying
when agonistic interaction was occuring with other Koels or other birds.

If you exclude such observation, I'm not sure I observed significantly
less Koels in February. From casual observation frequency, it seems
difficult to separate declines in Koel density from (likely)
behavioural changes. Fascinating birds anyway.
