Hi birders,
Yesterday while walking the lady Carrington Drive
in Royal National Park (just south of Sydney) I observed a male lyrebird that
had a small "purse" attached to its chest. This appeared to be man made, about
25 mm long, 15 mm deep and 8 mm deep coloured white. It flapped around as the
bird scratched and fed but did not appear to impede it in any way.
Is this a tracking device? If not does anyone know
what it is and why it is on the bird. If it is can anyone provide
information on the research project with which it is involved
Regards
Peter Marsh
