I'll update my own note here re the comment on mimicry by a Grey Butcherbird
(see extract below) - I looked at my copy of the Readers Digest Complete
Book of Australian Birds and this notes "mimicry in subsong", which is just
what I heard, so my local Grey Butcherbird is normal after all.
