Spent some time today at Wickham Point (Caloundra Headland) and found four Wandering Tattler, two Sooty Oystercatcher, a white phase Eastern Reef Egret, as well as more usual Great and Little Black Cormorant, Silver Gull, and an immature Gull-billed Tern.
Got quite close to the tattlers and observed all had a light rufous/tan colouration to ends of primaries and tail feathers, and similair colouration on lower rump. Can find no refernce to this in field guides, all say uniform grey colour (though "darker than Grey-tailed").
Interested in hearing whether other birders have noticed this.Is their anything in HANZAB?
