Sporting birds

Tim your frustration wasn't as great as mine. I was listening to the ABC and 
they had all sorts of problems working it out. They knew it wasn't a Silver 
Gull (which someone has rung in and said don't call them seagulls) but the 
suggestions were:
Plover
Glossy Juvenile Ibis
and finally Juvenile Straw-necked Ibis.
I didn't get to see it on the TV, but it sounds like they might have got it 
right.
