Over a period of a week in mid-May 2003 Rainbow Bee-eaters roosted en masse in a lychee orchard on the Rex Range south of Mossman NQ. My estimate was around 500-600 individuals which circled the area upwards of 30 minutes before settling. Their calling was memorable. After four days a pair of Grey Goshawks stationed themselves on a high tension power lines overlooking the orchard which made the bee-eaters nervous and they dispersed after about 7 days. Del.
