Riding to work this morning in Melbourne I passed under the Bourke Road bridge. Here there is what is essentially a large puddle left over by the recent flood on the Yarra. For the last couple of weeks this muddy blob has provided a shrinking habitat for ducks, teals, ibis, martins as well as swallows and a heap of others. Today a night heron was wading at the edge. It's a very productive 50-odd square metres. -------------------------------------------- Birding-Aus is now on the Web at www.birding-aus.org -------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe from this mailing list, send the message 'unsubscribe birding-aus' (no quotes, no Subject line) to |
