Riding to work this morning in Melbourne I passed under the Bourke Road
bridge. Here there is what is essentially a large puddle left over by
the recent flood on the Yarra. For the last couple of weeks this muddy
blob has provided a shrinking habitat for ducks, teals, ibis, martins as
well as swallows and a heap of others. Today a night heron was wading
at the edge.

It's a very productive 50-odd square metres.
