Well yes you are right, the largest raptors
are the condors (although there is evidence that the condors and American
vultures are probably closer related to storks than hawks).
That is in the phrase of living raptors.
So the extinct NZ Eagle or other extinct species are not considered in that
comparison that states that the largest raptors are the condors.
Is the extinct NZ Eagle bigger than the
Teratornis incredibilis from the Pleistocene in USA? It was said to
have a wingspan of up to 17 feet (Feduccia 1980, The Age of
Birds)
