Birding-aussies.......greetings for 2005.

Tackled the Winder Trail on 3/1/05.

And that is where...?
This is accessed via Goomburra Valley NE of Warwick and is continuous with the northern end of the Main Range Nat Park.
This 12km (there and back) trail follows the ridgeline into the Mistake Range Nat Park and is mostly up and down through rainforest.

31 spp observed, and 3 or 4 heard but not identified.
Of note, Alberts Lyrebird on the 4wd track up to the Mt Castle Lookout carpark, and better views of another individual further along the Winder Trail proper, Rose-crowned Fruit-dove and Paradise Riflebird (female, have seen male PR in area before), 8 WTNT seen hawking above the trail at 7am.
The day itself was fine (became hot by lunchtime), with a gentle SW breeze all day with some high cloud only.
I did flush a flegling from the trackside. It sat still for about 5 mins at a distance of 6m. It looked to be what I would think a young Thrush would look like. Pale yellow beak and legs, brown dark edged feathers on back, lighter brown scale pattern on belly (poorly seen in the gloom on the ground and the bird had its back to me). No other birds seen or heard nearby in the time that this individual was observed. Do any Thrush observers have knowlege of fledglings?
Red-browed Firetails were seen building a nest in vines approx 8m above the ground.
Lewins Honeyeater were the most common spp.
No raptors.

Complete list is available, via personal email, if anyone wants it.
