I haven't seen the Painted Snipe at Lake Atkinson for some time now. The
latest sighting there that I'm aware of was by Colin Reid, a couple of
week's back.

John Hadley saw a single male or immature bird at Gatton on 23 November, and
I stumbled across 2 juveniles late afternoon last Friday, 3 December
alongside a small waterhole near Seven Mile Lagoon (which, incidentally is
completely dry).

These latter birds are surely two of the family that was at Lake Atkinson,
as the bird seen by John could also be.

Photos will follow. I wonder if anyone is up to recognising individual
birds?
