David Redhead went and had a look. Black-shouldered as was suspected after the reporter got a really good look at them

The observer has just rung me and said that he saw the birds well last night, just hovering over his house, and that there was a lot of black under the wings but no noticeable "S" or "Z" markings. If someone in the Beaudesert area could have a look it might be well to confirm the birds identity.

I have just had a report of a pair of Letter-winged Kites which have been hunting over the fields at 383 Cryma Road,  a km west of Beaudesert. The birds are reported to hunt only at dawn and dusk which sounds right.

Since there is a mouse plague there them may stay around for a while.

I was going to go down today but there, has been have just had 50 mm of rain and the place is waterlogged.
