Robyn, Green Pygmy-Geese still on Poona Dam this (Fri) morning. Very easy to find as dam is small and rectangular with few hiding spots.I also found a Latham's Snipe on far edge. The New Atlas shows sightings of Green Pygmy -Goose in three SEQ locations. One appears to be near Brisbane, another west of Brisbane (? Atkinson Dam in Lockyer Valley a few years ago?). The Fauna Watch "Fauna Lists for 30 sites around the Sunshine Coast" doesn't list them in the index, but I have a dim memory of them being seen at Lake McDonald, Cooroy many years ago. Had the wonderful surprise of a Richmond's Birdwing fluttter-by our verandah yesterday, our first sighting on the the Range (have only ever seen them on the lowlands). Russ Lamb,Maleny,SEQ |
