G'day to Ricki and all,

It certainly was a good day for you, both in species and numbers Ricki, and it will
be interesting to see whether there is a return next February of the
2,500,000 (that's right folks, two and a half million ) Oriental Pratincoles
that were counted by the AWSG at Eighty Mile Beach in February of this year.

Or will it revert to the usual (ho hum) 50,000 or so birds.  The staggering
number of Oriental Pratincoles this year overshadowed the fact that there
were also large numbers of other species present at the same time, such as
at least 30,000 White-winged Black Terns and thousands of Oriental Plovers.

Regards

Phil Joy
