Subject: | RFI - Red-chested Button Quail in the Hunter? |

Hi,On a recent visit to the Hunter Valley I was walking through a property near Cardiff and flushed a pair of quail from long dry grass and bracken. The call in flight was a chatter which sounded a little bit like a parrot and the birds looked like Button quail in flight but the view was very brief and I didn't see them on the ground. Can anyone tell me if Red-chested Button Quail have been seen in the Hunter and if these sound like RCBQ? NickPS: I played a tape of the RCBQ booming call to the owners of the property and they said they have been hearing similar calls since my visit. -------------------------------------------- Birding-Aus is now on the Web at www.birding-aus.org -------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe from this mailing list, send the message 'unsubscribe birding-aus' (no quotes, no Subject line) to |
