Hi birders, While doing some shopping in Station St, Fairfield (an inner-Melbourne northern suburb), I looked up and saw a Pelican flying overhead, an unusual occurrence in this part of Melbourne. I was also surprised to see that it was being mobbed, and not by a Magpie or Raven, but by an Australian Hobby. To speculate, the falcon was possibly a first year bird that was either very very hungry, perhaps confused, or was simply practising its flying technique. It reminded me of Foghorn Leghorn and the young chickenhawk, who was about as sharp as a wet liver!
