Jokes about Poms smelling have no place in this day and age, and can cause considerable upset to some members of this list. Where this idea came from I have no idea, when I first came to Australia 30 odd years ago, I could not understand where the smell came from in many suburbs where people appeared to store their excreta in holes in the garden, the UK had sewers in the 19th century.
