Hi all,
This includes the Sandgrouse,Pteroclidae, and the
first half of Laridae.
With Laridae, I have completed down to Kelp Gull in
Peters sequence.
I have built in to this my reaction to recent
papers. I have widely followed Yesou's reanalysis
of the Larus argentatus complex. I have
decided to recognise Larus mongolicus on the basis of Liebers &
Helbig,2002.
Please look at the Scientific synonyms data in
Laridae, because it is there that I put my comments.
The other thing that struck me in entering the
Laridae data was the struggle that ornithologists in the nineteenth
century
had in analysing members of this family. With
some species or taxa, the bulk of the scientific synonyms are followed by
Not....
I find this history fascinating. I hope you
do too!
As always, comments, corrections and updates are
weclome. Thanks to the many people who have contributed extra data to the
distribution of Larus fuscus.
Enjoy! It's all available free!!!
