Cane Toads spreading!

Edwin, Andrew and others have commented on the spread of cane toads down the 
east coast.
Whilst in the Kimberleys this year I spoke with the ranger at Keep River 
National Park [on the Northern Territory side of the WA/NT border].  He said 
that the rate of cane toad spreading is very dependant on the type of wet 
season experienced each year.  For example last seasons good wet season with 
more rain in May enabled the cane toads to move a long way west.  In fact 
they are now only 200km east of the WA border.  If the next few wet seasons 
are as wet as the last the cane toads could reach the WA border within one 
to two years.
