Hi Rachel,
Depending on your local birds, they may not be nesting yet. Here in
Brisbane I believe the birds are just beginning courtship behaviours
and shouldn't be actually on nests yet. Unfortunately bowerbird nests
are extremely difficult to find, so I'm not sure you would find one
even if you look. The bower is another matter, however. The bower is
the male bird's display area, and is easily recognisable as a
structure with two grass walls, hollow in the middle and no roof.
There should be an assortment of blue, and perhaps white or yellow
objects around the front end of the structure. As to what effect
clearing around the bower would have, I have no idea.

Also, does anyone know if the female birds have site fidelity with
their nesting? Do they reuse the nests from year to year?
