Oh dear -
this is so late. (Also rather untidy, I'm afraid.) But hopefully it'll
be of use to someone...? And perhaps a the black cockatoo query in it
can be answered...?
Trip Report: Diamond Head, Yuraygir, Lennox Head, etc.: July 2004 From 21 to 30 July we travelled north from Diamond Head, spending a few days there, and some days each at Yuraygir and Lennox Head, and stopping briefly at various places on the way. The birding highlight was Yuraygir, for which a list appears below - but there were thrills to be had along the way, too, as follows: White-headed Pigeon Columba leucomela Emerald Dove Chalcophaps indica Red-backed Fairy-wren Malurus melanocephalus Brown Gerygone Gerygone mouki Lewin's Honeyeater Meliphaga lewinii Eastern Yellow Robin Eopsaltria australis Eastern Whipbird Psophodes olivaceus Golden Whistler Pachycephala pectoralis Little Shrike-thrush Colluricincla megarhyncha Grey Fantail Rhipidura fuliginosa Varied Triller Lalage leucomela Regent Bowerbird ('brown' bird) Sericulus chrysocephalus CASUARIIDAE Emu Dromaius novaehollandiae PHASIANIDAE Brown Quail Coturnix ypsilophora ARDEIDAE White-faced Heron Egretta novaehollandiae Great Egret Ardea alba THRESKIORNITHIDAE Australian White Ibis Threskiornis molucca ACCIPITRIDAE Osprey Pandion haliaetus White-bellied Sea-Eagle Haliaeetus leucogaster GRUIDAE Brolga Grus rubicunda SCOLOPACIDAE Eastern Curlew Numenius madagascariensis HAEMATOPODIDAE Pied Oystercatcher Haematopus longirostris Sooty Oystercatcher Haematopus fuliginosus CHARADRIIDAE Red-capped Plover Charadrius ruficapillus Double-banded Plover Charadrius bicinctus Masked Lapwing Vanellus
