For those frustrated easterners salivating over the Rosy Starling in the far NW, can I suggest you just go a few extra miles and watch these birds for real in Central Asia. Out on the steppe in Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan in 2000 I recall seeing thousands of the blighters - big wheeling flocks reminiscent of Galahs with the alternating pink/dark flashes of colour. It looks like this local wanderer is going to be a bit elusive on its own in such a big landscape - well done to those who found it in the first place.
