GPS and birding

G'day all

Might I just say that the GPS has become and essential tool in my birding
kit - especially with atlassing.

Apart from accurately pinpointing where that Night Parrot was or finding
your way back to the car when you decide to take a shortcut through the
scrub instead of along the track, I find my map reading skills have
improved out of sight and I have found my way to places I didn't know
existed - even in my local area. A basic model and a car kit will set you
back about $300. The extra bells and whistles of the more expensive models
are nice but you don't really need them.

Do yourselves a favour...

Cheers

Steve
