Hi,
I beleive that all newer Garmin models including the Etrex run on
non-volatile memory meaning that its like a flash card. It does
not require batteries to store data you will not loose any data
if the batteries die out.
I recently got a Geko 201, and seems to do okay, even in
light cover ie. dry sclorophyll (sp) forest. I was getting
6m accuracy in the Bunyip State park a few weeks back.
Regards,
Vin.
