Hi there This e-mail got me thinking - where is the division between eastern and western hemispheres? 0 Deg longitude would be my first thought but this would be a bit inconvenient I guess as much of Britain and Western Europe would then be in the western hemisphere and then this would certainly not be Red-footed Falcon's debut here as Ireland at least and possibly parts of its West African distribution would be in that hemisphere. Incidentally the Red-footed Falcon is a scarce but regular migrant to South Africa and should be looked for among flocks of the much more abundant and closely related Amur Falcon summer from early December to mid-March Cheers John McAllister Wakkerstroom South Africa |
