Sorry Tim, I am a virgo and can't help asking "those" questions.

I mean, really, the bird I saw was even sitting on the "right" rock, the one where all the other sightings have been made - so it must have been the Baerd's; wasn't it? Well, at least, at 8:00 am it was.

in jest ?

Hi,

I am curious as to what people are seeing when they say "it was there".

Is the bird we are looking for in full plumage as some reports have suggested or is the bird in rather worn moult as others have suggested. I am just curious as I am planning to go down and look again this weekend.

Last weekend I thought I saw it in the early morning light but as the sun rose and the cloud moved over, the bird seemed to morph from a Baer's with glossy russet breast and strongly demarkated glossy black/green head into a strongly marked Hardhead in new solid russet brown plumage.

thanks

Jen

It was still on the rocks between 9:30 -  10:30 this morning.

Lighting was poor but i managed to get a few photos if anyones interested.

Thanks Dave for reporting this so early.

It was there at 0745 this morning on the rock in Lake Borrie in full sun -
just preening itself.
