I heard that the Birds NSW outing on Saturday 10th July had seen two
Spotless Crake at Maroubra ( Southern Sydney beach area, with a default
wetland walkway alongside a rifle range!) I hightailed off there early this
morning and caught a glimpse of the Crake as I arrived, and waited patiently
for a couple of hours for it to re-appear so that I could hopefully get a
picture. No Spotless Crake reappeared, but I was rewarded with another
first for me - a Lewin's Rail, and managed to get a few pics. I also saw a
Little Grassbird a few times at the same spot. Strange that three of the
most elusive birds are all at the same spot! I will post a pic of the
Lewin's on ABID.
