Spotted Pardalotes have a rather protracted breeding season beginning in mid-winter and lasting until at least mid-Summer. Successive clutches have been recorded.

I have seen pairs attending a nest hole several times in Winter over the past few years. Last Tuesday while watching the Superb Fruit-Dove at Pymble (Sydneys' north) I watched a pair of Spotted Pardalotes come close to the ground on several occasions moving about as if prospecting for a potential nest site. Interestingly, the female was seen a few times utterring a soft 'wee-wee' call, and it was she that appeared to be leading the male around. Their behaviour was awfully suspicious. Great little passerines!

Cheers, Dean
