On 21 June there were 2 AUSTRALASIAN BITTERNS at Edithvale Wetlands. Despite persistent gales throughout June, there were virtually no reports of numbers or unusual species of seabirds inshore and I've neither found nor heard any evidence of a wreck. But on 2 July, Peter Lansley & Rob Farnes saw a SOUTHERN FULMAR and a GREY-HEADED ALBATROSS off Cape Nelson, near Portland. On 3 July there was a POWERFUL OWL with a Ring-tailed Possum in its talons in a garden in Langwarrin, Frankston (Max Burrows pers.comm.). It was not there today.
