I've just  returned from Darwin and Top End.

Below are the highlights. I will try and write a more substantive report shortly.

I would highly recommend Niven McCrie's guide book. All sites referred to are Niven's sites. It's essential if you want to bird the Top End.

Chestnut Rail - Pair at Buffalo Creek Boat ramp.

Zitting Cisticola, Red-backed Button-quail, Tawny Grassbird, Bush-Stone Curlew plus lots more -  Holmes Jungle Swamp

Chestnut-backed Button-quail - 6-8 flushed in long grass in woodland between Cemetery and Sewage Ponds Pine Creek.

Also 6-8 flushed near Copperfield Creek.- good  views.

Star Finch, Yellow-rumped Mannikan at Victoria River access, Timber Creek

3 immature Gouldian Finch between Sunset Lookout and Town Lookout on escarpment road. 60 Gouldian reported by other birders  (mostly immature) at Escarpment Lookout. More Gouldians reported in puddles on Bullita Track in Gregory National Park.

Black -breasted Buzzard and Purple-crowned Fairy-wren - Victoria River Crossing.

Hooded Parrot -2 pairs on wing at Mary River roadhouse

Northern Rosella 3 on road into Gumlom.

White-throated Grass-wren, White-lined Honeyeater, Chestnut-quilled Pigeon, Sandstone Shrike Thrush - Gumlom escarpment.

Sunset Cruise at Yellow Waters fantastic!!
