Just had a chance to read the latest Wingspan -
The photograph on page 4 of Buff-breasted Paradise-Kingfisher is a
pretty typical pose -
it is often seen in a relaxed pose with tail straight down.
However, the photo on top left of page 25 (grey bird with nesting
material) - isn't that a Jacky Winter rather than (female) Hooded Robin
as captioned?
We don't get the Hooded Robin this far north in Nth Qld and it is quite
a long time since I saw my last bird but head shape seems more
flycatcher-like rather than robin - and too small (head) for a robin .
Not enough white (wingbar) in wings, underparts too white and uniform,
white in tail appears full length ?
Would be interested in any comments from people more familiar with
female Hooded Robin.
