Hello
We have spent several evenings over the last few weekends looking for Grass
Owls near the Brisbane Airport without success.

We've spent time in the grasslands around the lagoons at the end of Toombul Rd,
and also in the grass along Nudgee Rd between the Boat Ramp and Nudgee Golf
Course, just on dusk.

The closest we've come to success was nearly stepping on a Swamp Harrier
(scary).

If anyone out there has any helpful suggestions which could help us get a look
at some Grass Owls, that would be much appreciated. Hopefully there is an art
to finding them that someone can share, or maybe just perseverance?

Cheers

Mat and Cathy Gilfedder
Brisbane

PS - after an incident with a carpet snake at Samsonvale Cemetary on Saturday
morning looking for (button-)quail (only managed to find Brown Quail), long
grass stomping is rapidly losing its appeal!
