Hi all Following the posting by Alan Gillanders of his father's sighting of a Letter-winged Kite at Bethania, S of Brisbane, Leith and I went there on Sunday from about 4.30 - 5.30pm by which time it had got dark. We figured that since the species is reputed to be crepuscular, then dusk was as good a dawn [and easier to achieve!!]. We drove along Station Road to the end and then came back and waited next to an area of open paddocks until dark. We saw a couple of Black-shouldered Kites but no Letter-wings. Also had a good view of an adult White-bellied Sea-eagle flying home to roost. Did anyone else go out there with better success?
