RE: Sightings around south of Sydney.
I did hear a late Koel around Oatley however last Thursday 27/5/04, one was
in the gardens of the Aquatic Centre, Cnr King Georges Road and Forest Road
Penshurst. But the best highlight for us was at (29/5/04), 10.30am this
morning on our walk, at Salt Pan Creek (a branch off the Georges River) at
Riverwood, we had just crossed the footbridge over Salt Pan Creek at the end
of Lilian Street and turned left along the boardwalk under the railway
bridge and were looking at the Chestnut teal which were beautiful in the
sunlight, when one Osprey flew towards us, and over our heads, turned left
and flew over us again and then continued up the river. Some years ago we
had one in this area which stayed around for some time, most sightings at
that time were around the river at Padstow Heights, which is very close to
where we saw it today, Wonder if it is the same bird - will never know!
