Mark, I for one agree. The ABA counts Lord Howe Island and Norfok Island in with Australia. What they do not do (and I think this is sensible in zoogeographic terms) is include every Australian Protectorate notably Christmas Island and Cocos-Keeling Islands, which are included in Indian Ocean); and Macquarie & Heard & McDonald Islands, which are included in South Polar. This is merely a way of inflating one's Australian list. John |
