Sightings

2 May
6 Banded Lapwings in paddock near Cowwar turnoff, west of Sale, thanks Noel
Billing.

2 May
Many sightings of Banded Lapwings in the Pyramid Hill area in the last
month, after a long absence, including a flock of 68. Interestingly
coincides with the arrival of locusts, thanks Simon Starr

2 May
A single Whistling Kite was seen over Brimbank Park, adjacent to the Old
Calder Highway and Keilor Park Drive intersection, thanks Micah Kawalek

30 April
A single Banded Lapwing was seen at dusk over Kurrajong Crescent Melton
South, calling loudly as it headed north, thanks Micah Kawalek

29 April
There were 4 Orange-bellied Parrots at “The Spit”, Werribee Treatment Plant,
only one bird had an orange wash on the belly and a beautiful blue forehead
line and there was also an Australasian Bittern half way up the road to the
right of the sign. The Parrots were feeding to the left of the Spit sign,
thanks John & Sue O’Malley.

28 April
A single Spiny-cheeked Honeyeater seen in the vegetation along the Elwood
Foreshore on two separate occasions, 22 April and 28 April. It showed a
preference for the Drooping She-oaks and generally stayed clear of the Coast
Banksias, the domain of the Little Wattlebirds, which are very common to the
area, thanks Andrew McCutcheon

28 April
There were a small flock of Zebra Finch’s were observed along the side of
Faulkners Road Mount Cottrell, 1.2km south of the Greigs Road intersection.

27 April
A single female Flame Robin at Point Ormond, Elwood, thanks Andrew
McCutcheon.

27 April
The highlight of a grey and damp morning at the Werribee Treatment Plant
were 4 Glossy Ibis (on Paradise Rd lagoon), thanks Dave Torr.

27 April
Whilst driving to work this morning, Vin Lam saw 6 Corellas (most probably
long-billed) giving a flock of Galahs a hard time on the Roller-Coaster

26 April
Peregrine Falcon on Moorabool Street amongst the new construction works for
the new grandstand at Kardinia Park, thanks Peter Fuller.

26 April
There were a small number of Dusky Woodswallows were observed high over
Kurrajong Crescent Melton South, chirruping as they travelled slowly north
on a southerly breeze, thanks Micah Kawalek

26 April
A single male Golden Whistler was observed this morning in a peppercorn tree
in a yard adjoining our backyard in Kurrajong Crescent, Melton South ,
thanks Micah Kawalek
