In our garden-bed on the Mt Mee range (one hour NNW of Brisbane), a Satin Bower-bird has his bower. As of three days ago, he is still maintaining this beautiful structure, even though 'green' birds are rare in the garden now.

It seems to me rather late in the season (compared with previous years in our garden). Usually he disappears - back into the forest? - late-Feb to mid-March, and the bower collapses at once. The flock of 'green' birds that summers in our garden is certainly now long gone.

Anyone have any ideas? Could it be because we've had a good-ish Wet, after so many dry years? But still, who's he displaying for?

Cheers.
