Annie & I spent Easter at the White Box Camp in the Goulburn River National
Park, 330 km north west of Sydney. There was only one other camper here. It
was very dry and many grasshoppers were about. From the entrance to the
campground on the Ringwood Road, going south 300 metres there is a farm dam
and we spent each evening sitting watching the visitors. Also around here
are lots of blossoming and about to blossom Mugga Ironbark. These are
potential trees for the Regent Honeyeater which we recorded in this area on
7-6-98. It would be nice if someone went there on the Anzac weekend and
report what else is seen.

We recorded many species of honeyeater in these trees and none were calling
so it was a case of watching for new species. During the day we did a trip
to Lees Pinch lookout. Glossy Black Cockatoos are common near here and
there was one beside the road and I took this shot
http://www.pbase.com/image/27906118. Lees Pinch walk is easy and worth
taking the camera.
On the way we saw about 12 White Backed Swallows feeding above the road.
Interestingly they came down to a squeak.

Another day we drove to Wollar and on to the other campgrounds in the park
at Spring Gully and Big River. These were very full. On the way we
encountered lots of grasshoppers and a flock of 20+ Black faced Cuckoo
Shrikes and 6 Kestrels feeding on them. At O'Brien's Crossing we saw lots
of finches and a Brown Goshawk.
