Then, some particular birds and places:
Official First Bird Seen for the journey was a handsome male Superb Fairy-wren at the OzFuel petrol station on the highway at Purga Creek.
At Bald Rock (first Official Stop!):  Red-rumped Parrot, Crimson Rosella, Double-barred Finch, Common Bronzewing, Brown Thornbill, Red-browed Firetail.
Tenterfield: Little Ravens, near the tip: a group near a group of Torresian Crows? - but behaving and sounding different.
South from there, a Little Eagle...
Nearby lagoon (name?): Crimson Rosellas becoming greener?; Yellow-faced Honeyeater, Yellow-rumped Thornbill (rest of the record here lost to travel-damage!).
Mother of Ducks lagoon at Guyra: Red Wattlebird - with its beautiful yellow belly glowing!
Dangars Lagoon, outside Uralla: What a terrific place this is, even at the end of March. Swamp Harrier as I drove in, then, along the dirt road on the northern side, three Whistling Kites, two seeming to mate, and with a nest in the eucalypt before the pines.  LOTS of waterbirds here, including Black Swans, one of whom was on a mound... And Fairy Martins.
