Just clarifying my last posting regarding Melia azedarach and its distribution (natural and otherwise) in Australia. As just mentioned by Peter Woodall, the species is apparently a natural part of Queensland flora. As far as Victoria is concerned, however, the species is identified as an introduced taxon in the states main flora database (Flora Information System). Here it is called White Cedar. Would be interesting to hear what avifauna feed on this tree in northen Australia. I've not observed any birds feeding on the fruit in Victoria.
