For those of you who are interested, the transcript of the episode
Frank referred to is available at
http://www.abc.net.au/worldtoday/content/2004/s1061349.htm
It is also interesting to read the report on the King Penguin post
mortem - http://www.abc.net.au/news/newsitems/s1061814.htm - that
"massive internal injuries are thought to have caused the penguin's
death", with the speculation that it may have originally hauled out of
the sea on a rougher part of the coastline.

I heard on The World Today at lunch time on ABC radio today about the
death of juvenile Little Penguins on the Victorian coast. The biggest
number (about 1500) was near Discovery Bay over towards South
Australia. The expert who was interviewed said that this was a common
occurrence for juvenile Little Penguins, although there may have been
more deaths this year as the breeding season was slightly later
leading to fewer small fish being available.
Anyone have any more details?
