Hi all,

On the 7 March 04 I found 124 beach cast Little Penguins in a 5 kilometre
stretch of Portland Bay. I am aware of these wrecks occuring having found
large numbers on several occasions over the years including 475 beach cast
birds in a 24 k stretch of Discovery Bay with Brett Jarrett in July 1995.
But was wondering if anyone knows the exact cause of these wrecks, I have
heard several reasons including parasites causing starvation then death but
a lot of the birds appear to be in good condition.
Other beach cast sps. Fluttering Shearwaters 3 (fresh), Short-tailed
Shearwater 3 (old), Huttons Shearwater 1 (fresh), first I have found, Common
Diving Petrel 1 (fresh).
