Hi All

4 years ago I spotted a Wedge-tailed Eagle flying over Caringbah (25kms South of Sydney CBD). Obviously came across from the Royal National Park where they are now considered to be very rare visitors by most.

Peter,

The nearest in Sydney that I know of is 7.5 km north of the city  or
about 5  km nne  of North Sydney, at Middle Cove, in May 1996 (per.
Lorna Bloom.).

They were apparently resident in the city at the time of European
settlement but had virtually disappeared by 1900. These days they are
present in small numbers in the n. s. and w. fringes of the County of
Cumberland (greater Sydney).
